THE BIRTH OF THE P.T.A. AND ITS ROLE IN SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT
PTA CHAIRMAN'S SPEECH (2004/2005 YEAR BOOK)
As-Salam Alaykum
It is on record that the school was founded in 1989. Before one year of her existence, the P.T.A has come on board as a vehicle to assist the school Management Board in executing her educational policies. This has been done in a variety of ways: financially, morally as well as in material structures and equipment. Since the inception of the first administration led by Alhaji M.R.S. El -Imam till date, a lot of projects have been executed in aid of the school. A few will be mentioned.
To start with introduction of computer studies as well as purchase of computer equipment and related gadgets, purchase of a television set by a parent, donation of a computer printer by a parent and purchasing of the following:
(i) A giant generator.
(ii) Land phone.
(iii) Public address system.
(iv) Refurbishing of table in the staff room and purchase of two dozen plastic chairs.
(v) Roofing of the garden hall where morning assembly, graduation and Wallimot ceremony now takes place
without any disturbance due to the weather.
On the other side, the P.T.A introduced a parents/teachers orientation seminar with the purpose of re-awakening parents and teachers, schools and homes to their responsibilities toward the upliftment of the children. In ensuring that the teachers are in a good frame of mind for excellent delivery of service, we do dialogue with the school board on the improvement of their welfare package as well as assist some qualified teachers to obtain GSM hand sets and telephone lines. Efforts are in top gear for the incoming PTA executive to ensure that the tempo of the progressive activities are maintained e.g. acquisition of school bus for the pupils, table tennis complete kit. P.T.A. owned giant canopies and several dozen plastic chairs to be used in school and P.T.A. occasions. Also the P.T.A. constitution was drafted, approved, printed and distributed accordingly.
In collaboration with the school authority, the P.T.A requested that the Inter-house Sports competition be organized and it was granted the 2nd in series for the past 15 years. The event took place 1st may 2004.
The present P.T.A executives has put in place a conducive atmosphere for future generation P.T.A executives to operate by putting in place a good accounting system, administrative documents to work with as well as lay a good example on how to work jointly/peacefully with the Head of the school, teachers as well as the school management Board. To enhance knowledge of Islamic dates, the P.T.A. introduced Hijirah calendar to serve as an encyclopedia for Islamic notable dates and events as well as the school academic calendar.
It is of note that the YEAR BOOK introduced by the P.T.A. will be of immense benefit to the school and pupils. It will also serve as a future reference material to the pupils and school.
Big kudos to the P.T.A. that introduced this valuable year book.
May the bright light of Islam continue to ignite in our hearts and those that will be contributing to the progress of the school, PTA and Islam in general for the upliftment and attainment of all-round development of our children, physically, socially, mentally and academically so that they grow up to become useful and law abiding members of the society.
